"My house and farmland became flooded in mud"

"We can't possibly clean up everything by ourselves"

Typhoon No.19 (Hagibis) brought enormous damage across Japan. 7,518 houses were completely or partially destroyed and over 70,000 houses were flooded (as of November 8, Fire and Disaster Management Agency). Many victims are still living at evacuation centers after a month since the onset of the disaster and busy cleaning up their flooded homes. Some areas are still unable to begin clean-up efforts.

In the midst of it all, a number of volunteers from all over Japan continue visiting the affected areas to assist clean-up efforts and providing hot meals for the victims. According to the Japan National Council of Social Welfare, 117,380 volunteers have visited disaster volunteer centers in 14 prefectures by November 6. Some of them are people who were affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 and West Japan Floods in 2018 and visiting the affected areas hoping to pay forward the kindness they have received.

Civic Force is currently working with five organizations in four prefectures to support recovery and reconstruction efforts in the disaster affected areas.
