COVID-19 Response Masks ActivityReport

ARROWS Distributes Masks to 274 Welfare Facilities in Tokyo

As a member of Airborne Rescue & Relief Operations With Search (ARROWS), Civic Force has been providing medical supplies including masks and leasing tents and trailer offices to medical and welfare facilities across Japan.

On April 8 - 10, ARROWS delivered 54,800 masks to 274 welfare facilities in Tokyo where the spread of the virus is accelerating.  Smaller welfare facilities were facing a critical shortage of masks. Staff members had to take care of their elderly clients while worrying about when they might run out of their supplies. ARROWS distributed 200 masks per facility and received many heart-felt thank you messages.

"If it [COVID-19 infection] happens here, it would be a matter of life and death. We have been going by three mottos: not bringing in infections; not taking the infections outside; and not spreading the infections. We are taking all preventative measures including monitoring the staff's health and restrictions on their movement, limiting visitations by family members, and disinfecting the facility. We did not even think masks and alcohol-based disinfectant would disappear from store shelves this quickly and we were getting anxious. That was when we received the masks from ARROWS. Thank you so much." - Nursing home in Suginami Ward, Tokyo.

"We cannot thank you enough. Our staff is working very hard every day and as a manager, I have been trying to secure masks and disinfectant. This assistance was a great surprise and we will use them with great care." - Group care home in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo.

ARROWS will continue supporting the frontline workers in the medical and welfare sectors who are fighting against COVID-19.

Thank you for your support.
