5/8 Disaster Preparedness Event in Fukuoka

Baseball Meets Disaster Preparedness

On May 8, 2022, Civic Force will host a disaster preparedness event with the Japan Professional Baseball Players Association (JPBPA) in the Catchball Classic.

The Catchball Classic is a game created by JPBPA where a team of nine people compete against other teams by counting the number of balls they can catch in two minutes. This game was launched in Fukushima after the disaster in 2011 and since then, the Tohoku Tournament was held in 2012 and expanded nationwide. The game has now become an annual event with 60 games across the country.

Civic Force and JPBPA wanted to use this opportunity where many children attend to increase disaster preparedness awareness.
