COVID-19 Response Masks Media ActivityReport

Thank You for the Much Needed Masks!

"We felt like it was a reward to receive the masks from you as we work hard to take preventative measures for the virus. Now we are relieved that we can better protect our patients and staff. Thank you not only for the masks but also the heartwarming news [about this assistance]." - Nurse at a children's hospital in Chiba.

"We are required to wear masks in order to protect elderly clients from infectious diseases. We started feeling very concerned when we were unable to procure masks. That's when we came across your website about mask distribution." - Staff at a nursing home for the elderly in Shizuoka.

"We have many seriously ill elderly in-patients and out-patients. We spend every day taking preventative measures while worrying about when we will run out of our mask supply. We cannot thank you enough for the masks we received. Thank you so much." - Director of a hospital in Saga.

In response to the widespread COVID-19 infections in Japan, as a member of Airborne Rescue and Relief Operations With Search (ARROWS), Civic Force has been distributing around 170,000 surgical masks from our stockpile to medical facilities across Japan. The masks have been distributed to partner hospitals with which the members of ARROWS (Civic Force, Peace Winds Japan, and A-PAD Japan) have a cooperative agreement on disaster assistance and to 136 other medical and welfare facilities that sent us a request form online. These facilities are not only large hospitals but also smaller clinics and welfare facilities with elderly patients.

At the beginning of this post, we shared some messages from the people who received the masks. Along with their thoughtful thank you notes, they told us about the dire situation of medical professionals who fight against infectious diseases every day. Civic Force will continue providing necessary assistance together with professionals at the forefront of infection control.

ARROWS' mask distribution was featured on NHK.
