Originating from Wuhan, China, the new coronavirus has killed 217 people and infected 9,812 people as of January 31 (Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China). The number of coronavirus cases has surpassed that of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) epidemic in 2003 and continues to spread worldwide.

On January 27, Airborne Rescue & Relief Operations With Search (ARROWS), comprised of Civic Force, Peace Winds Japan, and A-PAD Japan, dispatched a staff member to China. Today, ARROWS dispatched an additional staff member from Saga, Japan. After arriving in Shanghai, with help from a local partner organization, the International Health Welfare Institute, the ARROWS staff members delivered 200kg of medical supplies (500 protective suits, 1,000 medical caps, 4,000 latex medical gloves, 30 pairs of long boots, 60 face covers) to a transportation team from Children's Hospital of Fudan University.

A doctor there warmly greeted our staff saying, "We would like to sincerely thank you for your support. Those items will be managed with strict inventory control. Medical professionals working at the frontline will be saved by those protective items."
