COVID-19 Response Masks ActivityReport

Over 160,000 Surgical Masks Distributed to Nurseries and Day Care Centers

As a member of Airborne Rescue and Relief Operations With Search (ARROWS), Civic Force is continuing to provide infectious disease prevention assistance against COVID-19

As the shortage of surgical masks worsened, Civic Force began distributing masks to medical facilities across Japan in mid-February. The masks were a part of a stockpile stored in a warehouse in Fukuroi, Japan. Civic Force has a cooperative agreement on disaster response with Fukuroi. Starting March 2, Civic Force began distributing 162,000 surgical masks to nurseries, kindergartens, and welfare facilities in Fukuroi. The masks were also distributed to after school day care centers. The centers are accepting many children in the midst of school closures. "Children need masks to prevent infectious diseases. We are thankful that Civic Force and the city were able to collaborate during non-disaster emergencies," said the city's Crisis Management Division.

The two parties began collaborating before the Great East Japan Earthquake in various ways including disaster preparedness drills.
