Civic Force Delivers Hot Meals
The sun came out after a few days of bad weather in Atami, raising temperatures in the area. Neighborhoods in Atami are experiencing water outages and access is still limited as people lost their cars and public transportation is not in service. With numerous steep roads, the elderly population is having difficulty reaching relief items and water distribution posts.
At the request of the local neighborhood association, Civic Force delivered 50 hot lunches to areas without car access. The distribution team was soaked in sweat by the time they reached the neighborhoods. In another area where assistance had yet to be reached, the team delivered 65 dinners. Civic Force worked with the local association and volunteers to inform the local residents about the hot meal services provided by Civic Force.
On July 11, Civic Force plans to distribute 40 lunches and 60 dinners. Civic Force is closely coordinating with the local municipality, disaster volunteer center, and other organizations implementing assistance activities. (As of July 11, Atami City suspended receiving relief items until further notice).
