Good Links is a digital matching platform operated by Civic Force that connects companies with aid organizations to deliver supplies and services to those in need. As of May 2026, over 60 companies and organizations have joined the platform. Meiji Holdings is one of the companies that joined and they have been donating essential household items twice a year since 2023.

Civic Force spoke with Masashi Akagi (pictured right) and Ryota Okamura (pictured left) about how the Meiji team utilize Good Links and the reasons behind their continued support.

How long have you been a part of Good Links?

We joined Good Links in March 2023 with a donation of 10,020 boxes of recycled-paper tissues. We have since donated boxed tissues and toilet paper to Civic Force twice a year. This activity is part of an ongoing paper carton recycling campaign for our employees. We recycle approximately 170,000 paper cartons each time. Between 2023 and March 2026, we donated a total of 44,000 rolls of toilet paper and 46,000 boxes of tissues to Civic Force.

Please tell us more about your campaign.

As part of efforts to increase the paper carton collection rate and raise employee awareness of the environment, the Meiji Group conducts a paper carton recycling campaign twice a year. All employees report the number of cartons they have deposited into the nearest collection box, and based on the aggregate total across the entire Meiji Group, the company purchases recycled-paper boxed tissues and toilet paper to donate to support organizations.

During the pandemic, the staff suggested donating our tissue boxes to aid organizations rather than giving them away to the employees. While researching potential recipients, our team learned that Civic Force could accept large quantities on a regular basis, which led to our current partnership.

The recycled paper you donated is stored in a warehouse in Saga and distributed to single-parent families and those in need through partner organizations nationwide. In the event of a disaster, it is also delivered quickly to the affected area. By providing supplies on a regular basis, it becomes possible to deliver supplies to disaster-stricken areas quickly when needed. Could you tell us why you decided to support Civic Force?

Looking at the Civic Force website, the mission statement made me imagine that the donated supplies would be used effectively.

After we made the donation, I received a report and photos from a Civic Force representative regarding the recipients. Your team also shared information about the situation in the disaster-affected areas, helping us truly feel that the donation had brought joy to those affected by the disaster and those in need.

The initiative to donate to non-profits began during the pandemic, but why are you continuing to provide support even now after the pandemic has subsided?

By participating in Good Links, we are not only helping those in need, but also contributing to an improvement in paper carton collection rates and a change in employee awareness.

In recent years, while awareness of recycling various materials has increased, the collection rate for paper cartons and waste paper have remained flat for the past decade or so.

As a dairy manufacturer, we feel the need to address this issue. Forest resources, which are significantly involved in climate change and it is very important for each individual to be aware of the importance of sorting paper cartons.

As for the donation, we share the photos and comments received from Civic Force in our company newsletter, aiming to ensure that all employees understand the significance of recycling and supporting organizations making an impact.

We believe that through this campaign, all of our employees have an opportunity to understand the significance of recycling and supporting others. We would like to continue our support, however small our contribution may be.
