Following the record-breaking heavy rains that struck Chiba Prefecture, the prefectural disaster response headquarters announced today, August 15, that 465 people are currently sheltering in 76 evacuation centers throughout the prefecture. To date, eight people have died and more than 480 houses have been damaged. The full extent of the damage is still unclear where widespread flooding continues and the number of houses affected may increase further.
