【Noto Peninsula Heavy Rain】 Civic Force Delivers Pressure Washers and Portable Toilets to Communities without Water Supply

Recent heavy rains have caused flooding and landslides in Suzu City, Noto Town, and Wajima City in Ishikawa Prefecture. According to Ishikawa Prefecture, eight people have been confirmed dead and the search is continuing for those missing (as of September 23). In addition, a total of 82 evacuation centers have been opened in nine cities and towns, housing 1,088 people.

Following the deadly earthquake on New Years, various evacuation centers were gradually being downsized and consolidated. But in response to the latest rains some evacuation centers have reopened. In some areas, water supply has reduced and there is an urgent need for drinking water and emergency toilets.

On September 23, two boxes of emergency toilets and four high-pressure washers left a warehouse in Saga Prefecture. The package was sent to a local organization based in Kanazawa City that provides support to disaster-stricken areas. These supplies will be used at a nursing care facility in Wajima City that was damaged by flooding.
