【Noto Peninsula Earthquake】 Portable Toilets Distributed to Evacuation Centers
Suzu City opened 50 evacuation centers around the city and more than 70% of the residents fled their homes. A lack of safe water caused by the water outage led to worsening hygiene conditions in evacuation center bathrooms.
In partnership with The Players Fund launched by the Japan Professional Baseball Players Association, Civic Force delivered portable toilets from the warehouse in Saga to evacuation centers at two schools. “This is very helpful, thank you so much,” said the school’s vice principal with a sigh of relief.
Civic Force’s Executive Director, Kaori Neki, said, “We have been stockpiling relief supplies since the Great Tohoku Earthquake. I am glad that these portable toilets became useful.”
Additionally, diapers, wet wipes, baby formulas, and trash bags were donated.
Civic Force also distributed an evacuation center management guide and health hotline information. The management guide addresses handling evacuee intake, keeping common areas clean, and best practices on roles and responsibilities. The health hotline targets women having concerns around menstrual hygiene during evacuation and connects them with healthcare providers via chat.
