【Interview Vol. 4】“Bringing the power of young people to disaster-stricken areas”

January 1 marks the one year anniversary of the Noto Peninsula earthquake.

Through NPO Partner Project, Civic Force supports the Hokuriku Gakuin University Disaster Area Support Center. Civic Force received a message from Professor Junichi Tanaka, who specializes in disaster sociology and regional sociology and is director of the Disaster Area Support Center.

With the shortage of human resources in the disaster-stricken areas becoming a major issue, the Center in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, dispatched student volunteers to the impacted communities to clean evacuation centers and victims' homes and document the damage. The Center continues to carry out various activities including hosting a gathering space in temporary housing and for secondary evacuees, creating a place for children, and also function as a hub for sending students from universities across the country.
