News Letter Vol.34 is Now Available -One Year after Noto Peninsula Earthquake

“I am at a loss for what to do.” “I feel like my heart is shattered.”
Nine and a half months after the Noto Peninsula Earthquake struck the region on New
Year’s Day 2024, the disaster-affected area was further battered by heavy rain. Numerous
areas suffered from inundation amidst the ongoing recovery and reconstruction efforts.

In response to the anguished cries of people in the affected area, Civic Force once again
launched emergency assistance. As part of our recovery efforts, we have delivered cleaning
tools, materials, and equipment to help remove dirt and other debris which gushed into
houses. We also delivered blowers, blankets and clothes. Furthermore, we are actively
supporting the reconstruction efforts by helping people face both mid- and long-term issues.

Those who had been making their living by fishing or agriculture have been unable to
continue, saying they have given up. However, those residing in the areas which we support
say that with Civic Force’s support, they have been encouraged to go back to sea to fish
once again.

For 2024’s final newsletter, we bring you the latest developments of the devastated
Oku-Noto region. We also feature messages from people who have been working on
recovery and reconstruction of the Noto region throughout this year.
