【Iwate Wildfires】 Gathering Information

In the afternoon April 22, a large-scale fire broke out in Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture. As of now, the fire has spread to seven buildings, including residential homes and forested areas.

According to the fire department, approximately 140 hectares of forest in the Kirikiri district and at least 15 hectares in the Kozuchi district have been burned.

Otsuchi town has issued evacuation orders for 900 households (1,884 residents) across three nearby distrcits. As of 1:00AM on April 23 local time, 249 people from 104 households are staying in three evacuation centers.

Civic Force is currently gathering information on the extent of the damage and the needs on the ground.
