Since the disaster struck on August 10, Civic Force has been actively gathering information and assessing needs. So far, we have provided supplies like sports drinks, tea, and wet wipes to Tamana City and Gyokuto Town. In Kamiamakusa City, we helped dispatch volunteers and installed a freezer to provide cold drinks for them. In Yatsushiro City, which was the most severely affected, we delivered drinking water. Some of these supplies were provided through SEMA and have been invaluable to both residents and volunteer centers.

On August 26 and 27, Civic Force returned to Yatsushiro City, the area most affected by the recent disaster, to assess ongoing needs. The city reported one fatality, 82 destroyed or damaged homes, 2,889 flooded houses, and 40 individuals still in two evacuation centers.
Civic Force met with the city's Crisis Management Division and learned of immediate needs for transportation, fresh food, and drinking water. We promptly delivered vegetable juice to both shelters, where a staff member noted, "Fresh items like these are greatly appreciated, as residents have been eating the same kind of food for a while."
At the volunteer center, we provided high-pressure washers and drinking water to help with their recovery efforts. We also delivered 50 circulating fans funded by the Japan Professional Baseball Players Association's (JPBPA) "Players Fund."

While often used for cooling, these fans are crucial in disaster relief for drying out flooded houses to prevent mold growth and associated health risks.

A volunteer center staff member expressed their thanks, adding, "The disaster victims are heartbroken, so we want to use these to help with recovery as quickly as possible. We also desperately need more volunteers to come to Yatsushiro."

In Tamana City and Gyokuto Town, we lent high-pressure washers to the Saga-based organization Omoyai to clean homes. A staff member from Omoyai highlighted the importance of this support, stating, "We are grateful to use this equipment. It's also important that people, including the affected residents, understand how crucial these supplies are for recovery."

As the three-week mark passes, many are still facing severe hardship. Civic Force will continue to provide timely support and share updates to encourage more participation in relief efforts. With September 1st being Disaster Preparedness Day and August 31st being Nihyaku-toka (a traditional day for disaster preparedness), we encourage everyone to take a moment to review their emergency kits, stock up on supplies, and confirm safety plans with their families.
