【August 2025 Heavy Rain】Providing Sports Drinks and Supplies to Tamana City, Kumamoto
In August 2025, a record-breaking downpour hit areas primarily in Kagoshima's Kirishima City, as well as Kumamoto, Fukuoka, and Yamaguchi Prefectures. This led to widespread damage, including landslides, overflowing rivers, and flooding.
On August 21, Civic Force deployed two staff members from Saga Prefecture to Tamana City, Kumamoto, to deliver essential supplies like sports drinks and tea.

A prefectural road intersection in central Tamana City was flooded up to waist height, causing significant damage to nearby car dealerships and supermarkets. As of August 21, the Tamana City Council of Social Welfare reported one home completely destroyed, 174 homes with floor-level flooding, and 211 with subfloor flooding.
The Tamana City Council of Social Welfare began recovery efforts on August 18 by activating a disaster volunteer center. After an initial needs assessment on August 13, Civic Force sent two more staff members from Saga Prefecture on August 21 to deliver the following items to the volunteer center:

Mr. Takeo Mashi, General Manager of the Tamana City Council of Social Welfare, stated, "We are extremely grateful for all the necessary supplies, including the water that you thoughtfully sent. The sports drinks, in particular, have been a tremendous help given the ongoing heatwave. We've had volunteers working in scorching 37-degree Celsius heat and some have even collapsed. The situation and the needs of the affected residents change daily, so we want to build trust and provide compassionate support."

Civic Force will continue to monitor the situation on the ground and work to provide swift and necessary support.
