Disaster Drill in Wakayama

Civic Force, Wakayama Prefecture, and the Wakayama Prefecture Gaming Industry Cooperative signed an agreement in March 2025 to cooperate on disaster support, including supplying relief goods to evacuees outside of official shelters. To prepare for a massive disaster like the Nankai Trough Earthquake, these three parties collaborated on a disaster drill held in Kainan City, Wakayama Prefecture, on October 6.

The drill involved the smooth transportation of supplies from Kainan City's centralized stockpile warehouse to a pachinko parlor, which acts as a temporary evacuation reception center. They also set up a relief supply distribution point using the pachinko parlor's parking lot and store space.

30 people participated in the drill's opening ceremony, including Chairman Kim Gwi-yeo of the Wakayama Prefecture Gaming Industry Cooperative and officials from Wakayama Prefecture and Kainan City. During the ceremony, Kainan City Mayor Masaki Kande stated, "We want to establish a system to confront disasters by combining the expertise and resources held by both the public and private sectors".

Subsequently, emergency toilets and toilet paper, among other supplies provided by Civic Force, were transported to LOVE Kainan, the city's only pachinko parlor, and a supply distribution point was established. These supplies will also be stored inside the store for use in an emergency. The store is well-suited to receive disaster victims due to its vast site with parking for 800 cars, and its abundant restroom and supply facilities.

In the afternoon, community members and families participated in an event where they had an opportunity to taste test emergency alpha rice and use disaster toilets, and attended a short disaster preparedness lecture.

A mother who visited with her child said, "It was my first time in a pachinko parlor, but it was clean and I felt it would be a very useful facility for people with children in an emergency. This experience will be the catalyst for me to start taking disaster preparedness measures".

Civic Force plans to continue its cooperation and support tailored to local needs in preparation for sudden disasters.
