A massive earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture on July 28, 2026, with a maximum seismic intensity of 7 in Uki City and Hikawa Town, and the death toll so far has reached 13 (as of the morning of July 29). The earthquake left serious damages across the region, including explosions at commercial facilities, collapsed factory chimneys, and collapsed houses. Widespread water outages, leaks, and power outages have been reported in Yatsushiro City, Uki City, Hikawa Town, and other areas.

In response, Civic Force began gathering information on the extent of the damage in various areas and prepared to deliver emergency relief supplies including heatstroke prevention kits, emergency toilets, portable power supplies, and air coolers, which had been sent out in advance to the affected areas. On July 29, they dispatched an emergency relief team to Hikawa Town experiencing power outages and water shortages. The team, in cooperation with the Hikawa Town Hall and other organizations, delivered some of the supplies to the evacuation centers.

Many residents are being forced to evacuate in the midst of this extreme heat. Civic Force plans to continue our efforts to support those affected by the disaster through activities tailored to the needs of the communities.
