【Typhoon Hagibis (2019)】 Restoring and Rebuilding Traditional Japanese Home that Endured Flood Damage

Civic Force is supporting the Shinano-Naganuma Traditional Home Preservation Society based in Naganuma, Nagano Prefecture through the NPO Partner Project. Naganuma was heavily damaged during Typhoon Hagibis in October 2019.

Today, a crowdfunding project was launched to restore a traditional Japanese house damaged by the typhoon. Mr. Akio Ota, the director of the preservation society, said, "The traditional Japanese home, Yonezawa residence, was damaged by Typhoon Hagibis four years ago. But the community is working together to restore and rebuild the home. Please lend us your help in making it a place where people can experience the traditional Japanese home, and as a place where people from the community and visitors can gather. With the frequency of disasters increasing, I hope this project becomes a model case to be shared with future generations.”
