Writer Yu Miri's Café Reopened on December 2
Civic Force has been supporting a book café, Full House, since March 2021 as part of its NPO Partner Projects. The café was closed due to COVID-19 and reopened on December 2 with new items on the menu. Hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 11:00 am - 6:00 pm (last order at 4:30 pm).
Award-winning writer, Yu Miri runs the café. Her 2014 book, Tokyo Ueno Station, was awarded the National Book Award on November 19, 2020 and many local residents came to the café to congratulate her success. The main character is a man from Minami-Soma in Fukushima. Yu wrote the story while visiting Fukushima to discuss the 2011 disaster and the nuclear power plant accident with local people. "I hope people in the community enjoy gathering at the book café."
