After 14 years, the disaster-stricken areas of Tohoku have made progress in reconstruction, and the appearance of the towns have changed significantly. Since 2011, Civic Force has been working with the communities in the impacted areas. This year, we are holding the “Tohoku Favorite Spot Award” to commemorate 3.11.

Please send us your favorite Tohoku experiences including photos and stories about beautiful scenery, spaces filled with memories, things that have changed, and foods that remain the same. We hope that everyone with connections to Tohoku will join the contest.

Connecting the lessons of 3.11 to the Future

Civic Force has continued to support disaster-affected areas in Tohoku since it began emergency relief activities in March 201. Civic Force is currently supporting local communities through NPO Partner Projects. There are three pillars of support: community development, Fukushima and the Nuclear Power Plant, and Storytelling. The storytelling component provides opportunities to share lessons learned from 3.11 to the future generations.
