【Noto Peninsula Earthquake】 Relief Item Distribution at Public Bath

Civic Force continues supporting the residents impacted by the deadly earthquake that struck the Noto Peninsula almost three weeks ago.

On January 21, 2024, Civic Force distributed clothing, beverages, and hygiene kits at a public bath that recently resumed its operation.

Many residents still do not have access to water due to the water outage and are unable to wash their clothes. “I didn’t have any change of underwear. This is helpful,” said one victim.

This public bath, Amida-yu, was heavily damaged by the earthquake. Repairs were quickly made and they were able to resume its operation on January 19. Many residents visited Amida-yu - for some visitors, it was their first time taking a bath since the earthquake.

In Ishikawa Prefecture, more than 17,600 people have fled their homes. In Suzu city, some of them are staying outside of evacuation centers in places such as their damaged homes, warehouses, and greenhouses.

The needs of evacuees who are not staying at evacuation centers can often be overlooked and Civic Force is actively connecting with those residents to provide support.
